Echinacea 'Secret Lust'

Photo courtesy of Terra Nova Nurseries

If you like Pink Double Delight then you'll like this one. Same incredible growth rate and same transition. This new introduction for 2011 has nice orange color when it's in disc form and then reddens up as it becomes a full flower. You can see a hint of pink in the flowers in the right light. We're going to be adding this one to our garden this year.

Another version that seems to be the exact same as 'All that Jazz'. If you've grown that variety you'll realize how special this flower is. The quills do make it stand out in the coneflower garden. This type of echinacea may be in my top five favorites. I look to have a quilled variety in every color in the near future.

Echinacea 'Now Cheesier'

While we love the color of Now Cheesier and it's predecessor, Mac 'n Cheese, this is the frustrating part of the coneflower market as of late. One year or two years after a plant is released, breeders immediately release an improved form. We say buy this one and dump Mac and Cheese. Or vice versa. Either way you don't need both but you should have one.

Bloom Color: Yellow

Bloom Size: 3 inches

Echinacea 'Mama Mia'

Big flowers instantly grab your attention. Displays my favorite new "trend" in echinacea. It has flowers that change color as they age. Hot Summer was the first but this one seems to start a little darker orange than the others. People just love the orange red combo

Height: 20 inches

Echinacea 'Amazing Dream'

A coneflower that was bred using the Tennessee coneflower genes which means it is going to flower it's heart out. A short, front of the border, type echinacea that stands out because of it's dark pink flower. There have been some other compact varieties released over the last few years but this one may be one of my favorite.

Echinacea 'Aloha'

A new introduction for 2011 with melon yellow flowers. It's a beautiful variety but looks very similar to other recent introductions. I think it's worth growing but may and either/or if you have other similar color coneflowers.

Another Terra Nova 2011 introduction in their Secret series. If you like Coral Reef then you'll also like this flower. A lighter pink than other varieties but each plant is full of many different shades of pink. One of our new favorites from Terra Nova

Echinacea 'Secret Pride'

A new introduction for 2011. It seems to be a very pretty flower but we're going to have to grow this one a little longer to figure out why we would want to grow this one versus the other double whites already on the market. I will say the foliage seems to be a little darker than other varieties.
